Hello class,
Here are your blog requirements:
Twice per unit (2 posts x 3 units = 6 total posts) students must write a blog post reflecting on a piece of literature from class. By reflection, I mean your thoughts about a poem, story, novel, film, or creative nonfiction essay. You should try to relate your thoughts to something we have discussed previously in class. There are no length requirements; instead, I suggest you gather your thoughts and type them out for ten minutes. A reflection might be an interpretation of a work, or it might be questions about specific elements of the work.
If you are not comfortable with the idea of a reflection, then try writing a post that will help your classmates appreciate something about a reading.
The idea is to use the blog as an opportunity to begin thinking about literature and to get in the habit of writing about it. This will make it easier to come up with ideas for your papers.
At times, I may ask you to do a short writing exercise here in order to develop specific skills. I may also ask you to post one- to two-sentence questions and observations about a reading before we discuss it in class—that way, I can prepare to address your ideas ahead of time.
When you post a blog, be sure to select the proper category (reflection, question, or interpretation) and tag (the work about which you are writing ).
Finally, please please please sign your name at the bottom of each post so that your classmates and I will know who wrote it.
Looking forward to reading your thoughts,
Larry
